Taiwan superstar Jay Chou and top model Lin Chi Ling (Red Cliff) embark on the adventure of a lifetime in the tomb-raiding action fantasy The Treasure Hunter. Directed by Kevin Chu who earlier worked with Jay Chou on Kung Fu Dunk, The Treasure Hunter is an eclectic mix of Indiana Jones, The Mummy, spaghetti western, and martial arts adventure, with thrilling action scenes choreographed by Ching Siu Tung. Acclaimed actors Chen Daoming (Hero) and Eric Tsang (Infernal Affairs) are along for the ride as tomb raiders with agendas of their own.
Legend has it that in the deserts of northwest China lies a tomb of unspeakable riches protected by an army of mysterious guardians. Novelist Lan Ting (Lin Chi Ling), whose father is the keeper of the treasure map, gets abducted to the deserts by a group of tomb raiders led by Pork Rib (Eric Tsang) and Hua (Chen Daoming). Her father's student, bounty hunter Ciao Fei (Jay Chou), comes with the map in exchange for her release, but other opportunists and the guardian army show up to join the fight. Chaos breaks out as news of the treasure map spreads, and everyone rushes into the desert. Feuding couple Ciao Fei and Lan Ting, as well as Pork Rib and Hua, all head out to find the legendary tomb and the treasures - and dangers - that lie beneath the sands.
