Jet Li stars as legendary Chinese hero Fong Sai Yuk in director Corey Yuen's action-packed kung-fu comedy The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk! A happy-go-lucky kung-fu artist, Fong Sai Yuk (Jet Li) is known around town for being mischievous and a bit of a troublemaker. But things really get out of hand when a new Manchu official (Chan Chung Yung) shows up offering the hand of his daughter Ting Ting (Michelle Reis) to whoever wins a martial arts contest. Sai Yuk easily wins, but mistaken identity abounds, creating romantic sparks between not only Sai Yuk and Ting Ting, but also his mother (Josephine Siao, in a hilarious gender-bending role) and her mother (Sibelle Hu)! But when the vicious Manchu governor (Chao Wen Cho) shows up, all bets are off! The governor seeks members of the rebellious Red Flower Society, and Sai Yuk's father (Paul Chu) happens to be a card-carrying member! With family and friends on the line, Fong Sai Yuk can only do what he does best: cut loose with a flurry of acrobatic action!
Already the subject of numerous screen adaptations, Fong Sai Yuk is brought to hilarious life in Jet Li and Corey Yuen's crowd-pleasing kung-fu comedy film. Corey Yuen delivers a near-perfect blend of martial arts drama, gender switcheroos, screwball comedy, mistaken identities, and high-flying kung-fu action which is sure to entertain! Fong Sai Yuk rates as one of Jet Li's most entertaining pictures, and an absolute delight for the true Hong Kong Cinema fan!
