Noted filmmaker Kaneto Shindo directs this erotic drama adapted from the autobiographical book by renowned writer Nagai Kafu. It tells a story of the 57-years old man falling in love with the ideal woman he met named Oyuki. Shindo changed the protagonist to the author Nagai himself in this movie adaptation. Masahiko Tsugawa stars as Kafu Nagai and Yuki Sumida as Oyuki. Sumida won several awards in the 'new actor' category with her subdued but brilliant performance.
